International students can apply online using the Elmira College Application or the Common Application

The deadline for applications for admission and financial aid for international students is June 1 for Fall Term and December 1 for Winter Term. Completed applications typically will be processed within 2 weeks. Elmira issues the I-20 about 2-3 weeks from when an admission decision is made; the I-20 cannot be issued earlier than 6 months from the start of an intake.

Direct Cost for International Students to Attend 2025-2026

All international students accepted for admission at Elmira College will receive an aid package valued at $29,444, putting your direct cost to attend for one year at $25,000 (USD). Students with additional demonstrated need may be eligible for subsidized student health insurance packages as well.

International Undergraduate Application Requirements

  • English Proficiency (International/Non-Native English Speaking Students)
    • TOEFL - Students with 80-100 will be required to take ELL classes, students with a score greater than 100 will be exempt from ELL requirements.
    • Duolingo - Students with a score between 100-120 will be required to take ELL classes, students with a score greater than 120 are exempt from ELL requirements. 
    • IELTS - Students with a score of 5.5-6.5 will be required to take ELL courses, students with a score of 6.5 or higher will be exempt from ELL requirements.
    • PET - students with a score between 50-57 will be required to take ELL classes, students with a score of 58 or higher are exempt from ELL requirements.
    • Citizens from the following countries are exempt: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Fiji, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, Malta, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Micronesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and Grenadines, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, St. Helena, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, United Kingdom, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. 
  • All students must submit an official transcript of courses taken during secondary school. If you have not graduated yet, transcripts should show the most recent results available. Provide translation of transcripts in English.

  • Applicants who are currently attending university should submit official transcripts of all post-secondary academic work, along with a Dean of Students Form from the Dean of Students at all institutions that have been attended.

  • The student should submit at least one letter of recommendation from someone who knows them in an academic sense, such as a teacher or academic counselor.
